Roger Swetnam, Chair (September 2009)
During Roger’s 20 years as an entrepreneur, he was GM of Paperchase Recycling Society (Edmonton), helping to make it one of the largest office paper recycling companies in western Canada, co-founder and President of Nortia Technologies (Vancouver), which provides communications & training software aimed primarily at the sports sector and now Principal of Check30 Integration, supplying technology to help organizations manage training and communications requirements.

Brenda Lea Brown, Vice Chair (June 2011)
The Kettle mission is so important to the overall health and welfare of Vancouver. Brenda Lea welcomes the opportunity to bring her skills and experience to the Society and its clients to help further the Society’s strategic priorities. She is an accredited business communicator working in investor education and market communications with experience and expertise in strategic planning, groups facilitation and project management.

Tamara Taggart, Honorary Board
Tamara anchors CTV News at Six and has recently been named The Kettle’s first Honorary Board Member after six years as a Kettle Director. Tamara is a committed community volunteer, sitting on several Boards throughout the Lower Mainland. She looks forward to making a positive difference with The Kettle in this new capacity.

Maria Holman (June 2011)
Maria is an associate counsel and registered trademark agent with Boughton Law, focusing in the areas of intellectual property, privacy and confidentiality, technology and the internet. She also has a practice preparing wills and trusts, and assisting with the administration of estates and applications for probate. Maria has contributed to Continuing Legal Education and has taught many courses at the community and college level.

Keith Anderson (June 2012)
Keith is proud to share his expertise of development of residential and commercial properties with the Kettle. The Society was looking for help with their upcoming housing developments. Impressed with the organization, the people and the Kettle’s programs, Keith was pleased to participate and contribute to their success. A partner with UPA Construction Group, his experience includes developing and building a number of social housing developments during the 80s and 90s and consulting for numerous developers. Keith has volunteered on affordable housing task forces and committees.

Verna Jewell (June 2010)
Verna Jewell joined the Board in 2010. She has had 3 hospitalizations for mental illness and has received a handicap pension for 36 years. She started attending The Kettle right from the beginning, and was a Board member in those early days; she has made a lot of friends here. Verna and her husband held a support group for friends living on handicap pension, supporting them emotionally by having coffee sessions with them twice a day for several years. Verna looks forward to volunteering on the Board again this year.

Sandi Green (June 2007)
Sandi is a senior marketing and communications professional with over 19 years of experience in a wide range of fast-paced, customer-focused industries, with a strong commitment to volunteerism. She was introduced to The Kettle while developing a Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy for a large property management firm who wanted to partner with an organization making a difference in the area of homelessness and mental health in the community.

Lois Frith (June 2012)
Lois Frith is a long-time member of The Kettle, and has been involved with volunteering here since 1988. She received her diploma majoring in Social Sciences from Langara College and speaks Spanish as a second language. Lois has been a mental health consumer since 1977 and appreciates having The Kettle available to her. For several years, Lois has also been a regular donor, and continues to support the Kettle now as a new Board member.

Sarah McCarthy (September 2009)
Sarah works as an Association Executive with Malachite Management Inc., an association management firm. She serves as the Executive Director for the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care and the American Society for Apheresis. Sarah holds an MSc in Pharmacology and Therapeutics and an MBA in strategic management. In her spare time, she enjoys home design and international travel.

Maureen Glaser (June 2012)
Maureen Glaser has been a member of The Kettle for 15 years and has participated in the Kettle Self Advocacy group for approximately 12 years. She is a Cofounder and participant in the Horizon Self Help Group and was manager of The Drive Pool Club for many years. She completed her Introduction to Community Mental Health, and also completed PSW training. Maureen expresses her creative side with writing and painting, and participates in The Kettle’s Art Crawl exhibition. Maureen looks forward to her term on the Board.

Lynn Noftle (September 2011)
Lynn was born in Halifax, but grew up in Montreal. She studied physiotherapy before attending UBC to study architecture. In 1998 Lynn decided to pursue a career in policing. She works in the downtown eastside with the Beat Enforcement Team. Lynn enjoys any activity that involves being outside, like hiking, biking and paddling … and if she can do it with her golden retriever, that’s even better.

Lisa Dominato (October 2012)
Lisa has more than 10 years experience in senior political and government positions, including four years as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Premier and Minister of Education. In her current role as senior project manager with the BC Public Service, Lisa is helping develop education policy. She holds a Masters of Arts in Leadership and throughout her career has volunteered in her community, holding director and chair positions with the Kiwanis Club of Victoria and the Victoria-Beacon Hill Constituency Association. Lisa is passionate about serving her community.
