Help for today. Hope for tomorrow.

Many of our city’s most vulnerable people are struggling with their mental health.

At the Kettle's Drop-In Centre, anyone can access food, showers, fresh clothing and more. We meet people’s basic needs and open doors to housing and employment opportunities that change lives.

"I thought it was a shelter, but it turned out to be something more. A place for friendship. Since that first day, I kept coming back."

— Bobby, Kettle Community Member

Bobby first started spending time at The Kettle because he had nowhere else to be during the day. But he soon discovered more than a safe place to rest. Today he has found stable housing, employment and a community he can count on.

At The Kettle, a hot cup of tea or coffee is one of the best ways we connect with new friends. It's our offer of hospitality for anyone — particularly those that are struggling on the streets.

That's why our monthly donor community is called The Collective Brew. Wrapping their hands around a warm drink puts people at ease and invites people to sit down and stay a while. When people stay, they connect — with each other, with our staff and with a community that truly cares about them.

What We Do

The Kettle Society is a leader of community support in Vancouver. For almost 50 years, we have met the urgent needs of our city's most vulnerable people.

We serve a community of 6,000+ vulnerable individuals each year, manage 400+ units of supportive housing and operate a mental health drop-in centre that provides meals every day of the year.

We also offer a range of community services including advocacy, an ID bank, homeless outreach, a women’s transition house, a health clinic, a volunteer program and supported employment.
