Mental illness can touch every part of a person's life.
Keeping a job becomes harder. Losing a job makes rent impossible. Losing housing makes recovery feel out of reach. And without support, the cycle deepens. The Kettle brings it all together: mental health care, housing and community support, under one roof.
How it all Connects
People's challenges rarely happen one at a time. But at most organizations, services operate separately.
At The Kettle, our programs work in coordination, not isolation. A person seeking a meal can also meet with a mental health professional, get help securing housing, build job skills, and find community.
Here’s how mental health support anchors our holistic model of care.
Our Programs
Mental Health Drop-In Centre
For many people, our drop-in staff and mental health workers are the first to notice when someone is struggling with mental illness. Here, we offer meals, showers, a health clinic, and connect people to counselling, housing, and recovery.

Community Services
You can't focus on your mental health when you don't have ID, can't access benefits, or have nowhere safe to sleep. We help people address these barriers through legal advocacy, ID Bank, homeless outreach and more.

Recovery & Wellness
Mental health care is more than just medication. Our Recovery Café, life skills programs, and enrichment activities help members build confidence and connection — ultimately leading to a life of recovery and stability.

Housing & Employment
Recovery doesn't last without a stable home and care. At The Kettle, we enable 450+ supportive housing units with on-site mental health workers. And through our employment program, members find meaningful paid work that rebuilds routine and purpose.

Meet The Community
"I probably would be back down on skid row or dead… most likely because I would have gone back to drugs, because I wouldn't have had the help." — Ed, Kettle Community Member
Ed was on the brink of homelessness when he connected with The Kettle.
On the foundation of a stable home and a mental health care team, Ed found a path to recovery.
"It was a matter of life or death for me… If I didn't have my mental health worker there to back me up and help me through things, I probably would have lost my tenancy a long time ago." — Rebecca, Kettle Community Member
Bipolar disorder made it difficult for Rebecca to keep a job and a home.
Since joining The Kettle's Supported Independent Living program, Rebecca found what she once thought was impossible — a steady job at YVR, and a life filled with connection and purpose.
