Homelessness & poverty
Each year, the City of Vancouver seeks to find out the number of people who are experiencing homelessness by undertaking a count. Research shows that there is a strong connection between homelessness and mental illness.
Living with a pre-existing mental health problem can increase the risk of poverty or homelessness, and living in poverty for any significant length of time increases the risk of mental illness.
Breaking this cycle can be difficult without the right support and access to resources. For example, without housing it becomes difficult to find work, and finding adequate housing often requires an income. Even accessing services, such as Income Assistance or Crisis Supplements, becomes difficult without a computer or telephone.
There is a profound lack of safe, affordable, adequate and appropriate housing for women as well as gender diverse peoples.

Leave a legacy
How do you want to be remembered?
Leaving a charitable will bequest is one of the most valuable AND thoughtful gifts that you can choose to make.
Including charitable giving within your will also comes with significant tax advantages. A charitable will bequest can reduce taxes owing once passed away. This results in an increase of the inheritances to loved ones.
