You can make a difference

For as little as $5 a month, you can help make a difference in the life of a person experiencing homelessness, mental illness or substance use challenges in Vancouver.

The Need

You see it in the streets, you read about it in the news – more and more people in Vancouver are struggling. With rising prices and higher rents pushing more people into crisis, the need for the services The Kettle provides has grown sharply.

While the situation is dire, there is something you can do. By becoming a donor, you can lend a helping hand to people in our city who desperately need it.

Where Your Money Goes

Not just a meal, not just a roof, but a community. For nearly 50 years, The Kettle has been providing housing, support and employment opportunities to vulnerable people facing mental illness and substance use challenges. In that time, we’ve created a range of services to meet the various needs of people in our city, including:

Supportive Housing. Housing with wrap-around support for people experiencing mental health challenges.

Emergency Rental Subsidies. Funding for people at risk of losing their housing.

The Recovery Café. A support centre for people recovering from mental illness, addiction and trauma.

Employment Opportunities. Allowing people facing barriers to traditional employment to acquire skills and build confidence to enter the workforce.

The Kettle Drop-In Centre. Providing a sense of community and access to:

  • Nutritious meals

  • Hot showers and personal care products

  • Laundry facilities

  • A health clinic

  • An ID bank (where unhoused individuals can safely store or reapply for lost ID)

  • Computers with internet

Your Impact

Nigel lost his job during the pandemic and moved into a Winnebago with no running water. After three years of living roadside, his mental health had deteriorated and he was in crisis. He sought help from The Kettle and received support from mental health workers, personal care items, assistance obtaining ID and, eventually, housing. Today, he’s an active member of the Kettle Choir and Recovery Café. He’s built a community, has a safe home and has reconnected with his family.

For as little as $5 a month, you can help people like Nigel get back on their feet.
