The Kettle Society supports people with mental illness to lead healthier lives by providing support services, advocacy, employment, and mentoring and housing. Housing Manager - Taylor Manor - Full Time
Oversees the day-to-day operation of Taylor Manor with the support of an Assistant Manager. Responsible for staff recruitment, scheduling and supervision and various administrative tasks such as keeping program statistics. Develops in-house psycho-social rehab programming, approves tenants, schedules and supervises staff, maintains case files and meets regularly with tenants to offer support and life skills coaching and to identify changing needs. As agent for the landlord, adheres to the Residential Tenancy Act in dealings with tenants. Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed. Raises work orders for Infrastructure & Facilities to maintain the building and grounds, supervises the ordering and purchase of all program supplies, maintains documentation for program and ensures all formal reporting requirements are met. Attends Community Advisory Committee meetings chaired by the Director, Housing Services.

Salary & Compensation:
$84,279 to $100,082
The successful candidate will start at a rate between $84,279 to $100,082 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This will be individually tailored to reflect your unique experience and qualifications as they relate to the role, along with internal equity.
Duties:
Leadership & Accountability:
Lead a team of 10-15 employees in a dynamic environment, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality housing services
Uphold The Kettle’s Mission and Values through consistent, transparent, and accountable leadership
Foster a collaborative environment and engage staff through regular team meetings
Provide employees with coaching, guidance, and opportunities for professional development
Support ongoing learning, conduct performance evaluations, and identify training needs
Investigate workplace issues and implement disciplinary or remedial actions in consultation with Housing Director and People & Culture
Supervise and schedule staff to ensure program standards are met
Ensure policies and procedures are followed and develop new ones as operational needs evolve
Represent The Kettle at a provincial level by presenting in-house research to key partners and funders
Program Oversight & Evaluation:
Ensure programs meet and exceed funder, regulatory, and agency standards
Build and maintain partnerships with clinical practice providers to enhance care, access, and outcomes for clients
Lead evaluation efforts that explore data around the lived experiences and outcomes of clients
Demonstrate expertise in the Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) and ensure full compliance in all tenant-related matters
Meet regularly with clients to provide support, develop behavioral care plans, and respond to changing needs
Foster a sense of community and hold tenant meetings to identify needs and opportunities for growth
People & Culture:
Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers in accordance with The Kettle’s core competency standards and union agreements
Identify staff training needs, create development plans, and conduct performance reviews
Participate in the management of grievances and labour relations matters in conjunction with Housing Director and People & Culture
Respond to workplace incidents and conducts incident investigations while meeting reporting obligations under the provincial Workers Compensations Act and Regulations and internal standards set by The Kettle’s Occupations Health & Safety Program
Administration & Compliance:
Maintain accurate documentation, case files, and program statistics in accordance with funder and organizational requirements
Raise work orders and collaborate with Environment Services to maintain the building and grounds
Oversee supply ordering and purchasing
Conduct financial processes including monitoring expenditures, investigating budget variances, and running payroll
Complete monthly program statistics and aid in reporting to major funders
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a social work or related human services field (master’s degree an asset)
Minimum of five years of experience in supported housing, paired with 3+ years of supervisory experience, ideally within a clinical or social services setting
Current and up to date certifications in CPR, Basic First Aid (Formerly Occupational First Aid Level 1), WHMIS, and Naloxone training
Experience in unionized setting an asset
Skills & Abilities:
Motivation to uphold the mandate, norms and values, and policies of The Kettle, particularly as these relate to community housing and residential care
Ability to lead within a diverse and intersectional environment
Competence in addressing client issues around substance use, mental health, concurrent disorders, and harm reduction
Proficiency in executing administrative practices and procedures
Knowledge of policies, regulations and procedures governing residential facilities and legal requirements affecting service delivery and operations
Strong skills in planning, organization, and problem-solving
Knowledge of services and activities of community and government agencies including referral sources and community resources
Oriented towards team-building and able to maintain strong working relationships with tenants, staff, and clinical professionals
Ability to supervise staff in a unionized environment
Strong working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act
