Kettle camping

Research shows that nature has a profound impact on our mental health and well-being, and the isolation that many vulnerable people living with mental illness, substance use, poverty and/or homelessness face.

Every year, The Kettle Society takes 50 of our clients on a 4-day camping trip to Camp Jubilee. Here, campers have the opportunity to swim, hike, kayak, sing, roast marshmallows around a campfire, and much more!

This is easily the most anticipated program we host all year. For many vulnerable people, this is the only opportunity they have to escape the noise and chaos of the Downtown Eastside.

For many of those in our vulnerable community, it is the happiest time of their lives. Our annual camping trip gives people the chance to experience the healing power of friendship and camaraderie, which is essential to increasing self-esteem, reducing anxiety, and aiding in recovery.
