John WatsonEstablished in 1996 in memory of John Watson, a long-time client of The Kettle, with a donation of $1,500 by John’s mother, Ardis Breeze. The Dendoff-Morris Trust Fund matched these funds.

The goal of the John Watson Memorial Art Fund is to enhance and encourage the creative endeavors of individuals with a mental health disability, thereby assisting in their recovery.

Since then, the Art Fund has dispersed close to $20,000 for art supplies for clients, including:

  • From oils to soapstone
  • Craft supplies – from sewing to soap making & beyond
  • Picture framing & painting supplies
  • Musical instruments/lessons
  • Writing tools
  • Theatre workshops
  • Recording studio fees
  • Photography/video/film

  • Bulk B & W film, 100 ASA and 400 ASA

  • Acrylic paints in tubes or tubs
  • Oil paints in tubes
  • Watercolour paint in tubes
  • Watercolour paper, acid-free
  • Brushes for Oils, Acrylics, and Watercolours
  • Easels: table and floor models
  • Yarn: many members knit
