Welcome people in from the cold to a place where they belong.

At The Kettle we care for people struggling with their mental health by offering practical help and outreach services that meet their needs today.

When you give to The Kettle, you are extending a hand of friendship to those who are isolated and alone.

I still remember being greeted by George, a Homeless Outreach Worker, when I walked through the doors at The Kettle. He made me feel seen right away. He was able to help with my immediate needs....The Kettle had all the things I needed in one place.

Meet Nigel

Through a lot of hard self-work, vulnerability, and resiliency, Nigel has come a long way since he walked through The Kettle doors less than a year ago when he was in a mental health crisis.

“Last January, as I faced the prospect of the third winter living in Winnie, my 20-foot Winnebago, I knew exactly what it would be like. I’d survived it twice before. No access to water. No heat. No working toilet or shower. I would use the restrooms by the beach to wash up and fill up my 2-liter bottle, hoping no one would come in. I was afraid that I would get caught or given a ticket that I couldn’t afford to pay. I hated how people looked at me — like I was an urban refugee.

How You Can Help

What We Do

The Kettle Society is a leader of community support in Vancouver — meeting the urgent needs of our city's most vulnerable people for over 45 years.

We serve a community of 6,000+ vulnerable individuals each year, manage 400+ units of supportive housing, and operate a mental health drop-in centre that provides meals every day of the year. We also provide a range of community services including advocacy, an ID bank, homeless outreach, a women’s transition house, a health clinic, a volunteer program, and supported employment.
